My Best Friends' Wedding: Sue & John Chen - City Girl from Thailand & Country Boy from China

When I was asked to be the maid of honor for one of my best friends' wedding,
I jokingly told the bride, Sue, she only asked to to use and abuse me,
but of course I was elated to help her and her soon-to-be husband, John,
who also happens to be a long-time friend of mine from my hometown.

The theme of the wedding came quite clear when they chose
red to be one of their main colors (bridesmaids' dresses were red),
which is a wedding color in the Chinese culture (groom is Chinese),
and when they chose an invitation design with cherry blossoms.
They wanted their wedding to have a slight Asian feel,
but mostly American modern.
Thai ceremony for the bride's family and
Chinese ceremony for the groom's family
was performed the day before the actual wedding day.

INVITATIONS

wedding invitations were chosen by the bride & the groom through a vendor.
in order to cut costs, i had them order just the pocket and the invitation
and made the seal and the insert cards for the pocket myself.
the seal has the bride & the groom's names in their native languages.
the four cards are at different sizes so they can be placed in the pocket in layers.

PROGRAMS

wedding programs were designed to emulate their wedding invitations.
each layer showing tabs for each page.
cover of the program has the bride & the groom's names in their native languages,
like the seal for the pocket of the invitation.

ESCORT CARDS

escort card idea came from a magazine i was about to toss.
i decided to skim through before throwing it away,
and it had an origami page with a how-to on a paper fortune cookie.
i immediately thought how perfect it was for a chinese groom!
cherry blossoms were printed in 3 different colors schemes to show some variety.

TABLE NUMBERS

tables reserved for family were in red and
the rest of the guests' table numbers were in pink

More related to this wedding...

i took the cherry blossom pattern and made this bridal shower invitation.

the bride tossing her "practice" bouquet i made
with all the ribbons and bows from her bridal shower gifts.

New Arrival: Welcoming Baby Sian

A personal touch is always appreciated!

Made for my friends who just had their precious little girl, Sian.
Decided to break out my treasured colored pencils that I've had
since I was in kindergarten, just for this little girl.
They have been in deep hiding for way too long...

Baby's Firsts: Happy 1st Birthday Adelyn!

A personal touch is always appreciated!

I was able to take tons of photos of baby Adelyn myself,
so I decided those would make a great gift.
I found two colorful frames which I was able to decorate with
equally colorful ribbons that I already had.
With a few more of her photos, I made a birthday card for her.

Baby's 100 Days: Happy Baggil to Jackson!

A personal touch is always appreciated!

Besides 1st birthday, 100th day for a baby is a pretty big deal in Korean culture.
It is usually a celebration for just the family, extended family included.
Jackson's daddy is Korean-American so I decided to send them a card
to acknowledge his 100th day on earth.

Baby on Board: Precious Cargo Baby Sean

A personal touch is always appreciated!

My sister thought it would be cute to have a baby on board sign
made especially for my nephew from his favorite (and the only) auntie.
I didn't have all my tools with me to finish the project
since I was visiting my sister in Los Angeles,
so the finish on this signage isn't exactly up to par,
but I still think it is very cute! Just like my nephew Sean!
