My Best Friends' Wedding: Debbie & David Park - D & D

This was the classic case of boy meets girl,
boy falls head over hills over girl,
girl doesn't know how she feels about the boy,
and year later, girl realizes the boy is the one,
and thankfully, the boy still feels the same....

It took way too long for these two to get together,
but they both truly believe it was in God's time
that they were brought together.
To represent these two who call themselves "D&D",
I came up with a little "logo" for them.

"D+D" facing each other,
indicating they are finally looking in the same direction.
dark red, mocha, and natural brown
were the color theme of the wedding

it was the groom's idea to create a little clock
to represent "God's Time"

INVITATIONS

a tri-fold card, with each end panel shaped like the letter "D",
hence, "D & D"

once the tri-fold closes,
the clock logo shows through the punched out circle

PROGRAMS

like the invitation, the end panels of the cover of the program
are shaped like "D". they close up to face each other.
and through the opening, you can see the bride & the groom's names.

cover page of the program.
logo, date, and a scripture befitting to them, jeremiah 29:11

inside pages

ESCORT CARDS

the idea came from the clock logo.

FAVORS

these unfinished paper mache boxes were a perfect fit as a favor,
resembling the look of the invitation

inside the favor boxes are personalized m&m's,
which were printed with the D&D logo and the wedding date,
tied up in dark red tulle, accented with their scripture

Wedding Bliss: No Bridezilla Here

Being close friends with the groom's sisters,
I was more than happy to get involved in this newest project.
I've known Thi for the longest time, and he's like a little brother to me,
and I thought his sisters rubbed off the whole
"no one's good enough for my little brother" mode on me,
but when he said he was marrying Michelle,
that's when I realized that as long as he was with the right one,
none of us had to have a stinkin' attitude.

INVITATIONS

the bride found this invitation style online, loved the geometric look,
but wasn't too thrilled about the layout they offered.
i designed the layout with the intention of getting them printed through that vendor.
we did not realize that we were not allowed to customize the layout
until she went to order them, so instead of going with a layout
the bride wasn't entirely happy with, i elected to make everything on my own.
the outer pocket, invitation, reception card, response card, name label,
map & directions were all made by hand (printed elsewhere).
of course, hand-made items are not the same as machine made ones,
but it gives some character, and hey, i did save them about $500!

CEREMONY PROGRAMS

i love the colors the bride picked for her wedding.
the bold colors of royal blue & hot pink accented with gray
truly went well the geometric shapes of circle & square.
for their ceremony program, i stuck with the circular mode of the invitation,
and i must admit, it was a lot of work trying to cut out all those circles,
but as long as the end result is great, all the hard work pays off.

RECEPTION PROGRAM & MENU

the bride & the groom decided they want a program for the reception
along with the dinner menu so i consolidated
the two items to avoid having two separate items on the table.
the program / menu is made with the same pocket design as the invitation,
and i purposefully went with the wide ribbons to create large bows
as these were a part of the table setting.

ESCORT CARDS

sticking with the geometric shapes,
i decided to make a prism with equal dimensions to create a square face
and use a circle to print guest names.

side view

a little hole was punched on the back of the prism
to show the guest's table number.

More related to this wedding...

rehearsal dinner menu.
in all the frenzy of trying to get everything done in time,
these almost didn't make it to the dinner...
because i forgot to send these to them along with others.
thank God for overnight shipping.

My Best Friends' Wedding: Lisa & Jason Lue Yen - Chill Jamaican Chinese On the Go

Lisa is probably one of the most busy-bodied girls I know.
Always seeking new business ventures, always traveling, always, always, always.
Then there's Jason, who hails from the Jamaica and is the most laid back of the group.
After being together so long, we stopped asking when they were going to get hitched,
then we were very pleasantly surprised when Jason popped the question
without hinting to any of us.
They met while they were attending the University of Florida,
so it was only fitting that their wedding was held in Florida, hometown of the bride.

INVITATIONS

wedding invitations were chosen by the bride & the groom through a vendor.
they went with more of a simple and modern look, with a touch of the classics.
I helped with the map & directions and the layout.

PROGRAMS

the bride had only one request, that the chinese character for "double happiness"
be incorporated in the program somehow.

ESCORT CARDS

it was purely coincidence that the bride and i both thought of
doing the same thing with the seating numbers.
it only made sense as the reception hall was dimmed
and the candles perfectly lit up the place.
double-happiness chinese character was also incorporated here.
